A Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) mezőnye 11 ország 11 városát érinti a 38.739 tmf út során. Az első szakasz Spanyolország - Alicante, Dél-Afrika - Cape Town, Egyesült Arab Emirátusok - Abu Dhabi, Kína – Sanya lesz, innen indulnak a második szakaszra. Új Zéland - Auckland, Brazília - Itajaí, Egyesültállamok - Newport, egyben ez lesz a harmadik szakasz kiindulása, majd következik Portugália - Lisabon, Franciaország - Lorient és végül Svédország - Gothenburg.

Cape Town - Sanya 4,670 tmf

Sanya – Auckland 5,264 tmf

Auckland - Itajaí 6,776 tmf, várhatóan ez lesz a leghosszabb szakasz

Itajaí - Newport (Rhode Island) 5,010 tmf

Newport (Rhode Island) - Liszabon 2,800 tmf

Liszabon - Lorient 647 tmf, ez a legrövidebb szakasz

Lorient - Gothenburg 960 tmf

 

 

A verseny 2014. október 4-én kezdődik Spanyolországban és 2015. június 27-én ér véget Svédországban.
